Lali Ghat
Lali Ghat is one of the many ghats (steps leading down to the river) on the Ganges River in Varanasi. It is said that this ghat was named after a young girl named Lali who used to sell flowers there. According to local legends, Lali was a very beautiful girl, and many men were attracted to her. One day, a wealthy man offered to marry her and promised to take care of her for the rest of her life.
Lali, however, refused the proposal, saying that she wanted to live a simple life and continue selling flowers at the ghat. The man was angry and humiliated, and he vowed to ruin Lali's life. He spread false rumors about her, and soon the people of the town began to avoid her. Lali became very sad and lonely, and eventually, she died of a broken heart.
It is said that after Lali's death, the people of the town realized their mistake and regretted the way they had treated her. They decided to name the ghat after her in honor of her bravery and determination to live life on her own terms.
Today, Lali Ghat is a popular spot for tourists and locals alike. People come here to take a dip in the holy waters of the Ganges, offer prayers at the nearby temples, and watch the stunning sunrise and sunset over the river. The ghat is also known for its colorful flower market, where vendors sell a variety of flowers for religious and decorative purposes.
